Marek Dolezaj commits to Syracuse, becomes 4th commit in Class of 2017

Dolezaj, a 6-foot-9 forward, is the fourth commit in the Class of 2017.

Class of 2017 forward Marek Dolezaj signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Syracuse Tuesday afternoon, SU head coach Jim Boeheim announced. The Slovakian star received interest from Vanderbilt, Florida and others, but only visited SU.

Dolezaj is the Orange’s fourth commit in the 2017 class. He’s ranked with four stars by Scout.com and is not ranked on 247sports.com or ESPN.

There had been rumors of Dolezaj’s commitment for a few days and an Instagram photo posted by Dolezaj on Monday captioned with a question mark only stirred rumors.

Dolezaj is listed at 6 feet, 9 inches and 200 pounds and finished the 2016-17 season at MBK Karlovka in Bratislava averaging 10.1 points and 4.2 rebounds in 33 games. Playing for Slovakia in the 2016 FIBA U18 European Championships, where his team placed third, Dolezaj averaged 13.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and two assists per game.
